Team Phoenix in the Mille Miglia
We're delighted to be corporate Race Passion Sponsors for this year's Mille Miglia, known as "The most beautiful race in the world". Additionally, Team Phoenix will have two cars running in the rally itself, a 1951 Jaguar Mark VII driven by our own Chief Executive, Susan Owen with her husband Ian and a 1955 Jaguar XK140 driven by Charles and Nicholas Owen, her sons. Susan first drove the Mille Miglia in 2016 in the same XK140.
Follow them in this year's rally on the official Mille Miglia rally website from 13 -17 June as they make their way on the 1000 mile rally route between Brecia and Rome, Italy. Learn more about the Mille Miglia here
Originally a 1000 mile road race through Italian countryside, famously won by Sterling Moss in 1955 with an average speed of 99 mph, since 1977 the Mille Miglia has been reborn as a regularity race for historic cars covering much the same terrain in the 1000-mile round trip between Brecia and Rome. Stirling Moss and the 1955 Mille Miglia
The race started in 1927 as an open-road, motorsport endurance race and, after a break during World War II, ran until 1957, when it was deemed to be too dangerous to continue. It was reborn in 1977 as an exclusive annual regularity race for historic cars that passes through the unique landscapes of the most beautiful parts of Italy. Participation is limited to cars produced no later than 1957, which were registered in the original 24 years that the race ran. The route (Brescia-Rome round trip) is similar to that of the original race, maintaining the point of departure/arrival in Viale Venezia in Brescia. History of the Mille Miglia
